Garden Design

In order to design your perfect garden, it is important for me to understand your likes and dislikes, how you’d like to use your outdoor space and to get a rough idea of your budget. I offer a free consultation at your home, depending on your location, where we can discuss your needs and ideas. From this initial meeting, I will develop a written proposal for you outlining your requirements, approximate timescales and design costs.

Site Survey

Once the proposal has been agreed, a site survey needs to be undertaken. Existing changes in level, buildings, trees, utilities and the direction your garden is facing all need to be recorded. For large or complex projects, the services of a professional surveyor may be required. A full photographic survey and analysis will also be taken at this time, along with soil tests to determine ph level, soil type, and structure.

Presentation Plan

Once all the relevant information has been recorded, I will then prepare a presentation plan. This is a scaled drawing of the proposed scheme, showing the location of any hard landscaping, lawns, planting beds, or bespoke elements such as pergolas or water features. Concept boards, sketches, models, 3D visuals or photos may also be presented at this stage, in order to clearly convey how the finished garden will look. Planting preferences may also be discussed.

Detailed Design

Once the presentation plan and concepts have been approved, the final design can be drawn-up, incorporating any changes from the previous meeting. A package of drawings will then be supplied, containing everything that is needed for the scheme to be accurately costed and built by your preferred landscaper. Alternatively, I can oversee the process of finding a contractor and obtaining competitive quotes.
